We celebrate too early. Hitting the goal feels like a win, but a result alone doesn’t prove that we actually learned anything. If the same mistakes show up the next time we try, then the first “win” was really just a temporary outcome.
The real win comes when we achieve the next goal without repeating the mistakes that created the last failure. New mistakes are inevitable—that’s part of getting better. What matters is that the lessons from the last win become part of how we operate. That is when the learning has become real, and that is when the previous win is finally earned.
Don’t celebrate the wrong point at the wrong time. Celebrate when the learning sticks.
